VOLLEYBALL, 1990-93
A four-time All-American, Leanne Peters became just the second player in NCAA Division II history to achieve the feat along with former Viking Lynda Johnson. Appropriately, Peters number (5) was retired alongside Johnson’s in the PSU rafters. During her career, Peters set PSU career records for kills (1,976) and digs (1,571). She made All-Tournament Teams in every tournament PSU participated in all four years, 26 total, and was named Tournament Most Valuable Player five times. Peters led PSU to NCAA Division II dominance (fourth in 1990, second in 1991, first in 1992, third in 1993) and never missed a match during all four years of PSU career. Peters also ranks among the all-time top 10 at PSU in blocks, block assists, service aces and hitting percentage. She was twice named the PSU Female Athlete of the Year and was the Hayward Award Winner in 1993 for being the top female amateur athlete in the state of Oregon.
