VOLLEYBALL, 1975-78
Karen was the first Portland State volleyball star. She was a key element in local recognition of the PSU volleyball program and her success enhanced the recruitment of players for the PSU championship teams of the 1980’s. A co-captain all four years at Portland State, she was a four-time AIAW All-Region selection. Haberlach led four teams to the AIAW Regional Championships and a tenth-place national finish in 1979. The team lost only one match to northwest competition in her four seasons. Haberlach was selected to the 1979 National Olympic Festival team and went on to play professionally.
