FOOTBALL, 1975-76
In 1976, June Jones established NCAA Division II records for passing yards in a season (3,518) and total offense (3,463) as the Vikings’ Run-and-Shoot offense led the nation in both categories. He was a first team American Football Coaches Association All-American that season. Jones established six new Portland State records on offense as a senior and in two years he threw for 5,798 yards, 41 touchdowns and led Portland State to its first ever eight-win seasons (8-3 in both 1975 and 1976). Jones played in the NFL, then coached collegiately, in the NFL and the CFL.
