WRESTLING COACH, 1952-71
From 1952-71, Coach Westcott developed a wrestling dynasty at PSU, never having a losing season. During the early years of PSU wrestling (1952-64) the Vikings wrestled in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Conference, which included Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State. PSC consistently finished as one of the top teams in the conference, producing many PCI champions.

Besides his 1967 National Championship team that went on to place fifth among University Division teams, the 1968 team placed second in the College Division nationals and sixth at the University Division Tournament.

Westcott was a professor of Physical Education and served as an Assistant Football Coach. During his tenure at PSU, “Doc” was a major influence on the collegiate lives of many student athletes. Among athletic alumni, he is a legend as well as an outstanding coach.
