Cathy Kuntz was a two-sport star for the Viking program, winning National Championships in volleyball, and leading the team in scoring in basketball. Kuntz was a member of the 1985 and 1988 NCAA II National Champion teams in volleyball. She earned All-Northwest Region honors in 1987 and 1988.
 
In basketball, she led the Vikings in scoring, rebounding and steals in 1988-89. She averaged 19.7 points and 7.4 rebounds as a senior and ranks among PSU’s top 10 all-time scorers despite missing numerous games due to volleyball post-season competition.
 
Kuntz returned to PSU as Head Volleyball Coach in 1993-94. She compiled a 60-17 record, won two NCAA West Regionals and led the Vikings to third in the nation in 1993. She was also the Pacific West Conference Coach of the Year in 1994.
