FOOTBALL, 1960-63
Billy “Bye-Bye” White played for Portland State when the school was a member of the Oregon Collegiate Conference. A three-time All-Conference selection, he was one of only five seniors in 1963 to receive the honor. White also earned NAIA Little All-Coast honors and was the team co-captain in 1962 and 1963.
He led the team in rushing and rushing touchdowns for three straight seasons, and receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns for two straight seasons. He was also the team’s top kick and punt returner and, as a sophomore, returned kickoffs for a touchdown in three straight games earning the nickname “Bye-Bye”. White finished his career as PSU’s all-time leading rusher with 2,203 yards and still ranks in the top 10 all-time.
