FOOTBALL, 1985-88
A part of one of the most successful eras in Portland State history, Barry Naone made his mark as perhaps the best tight end to ever don a Vikings’ uniform. Naone was a three-time All-Western Football Conference selection and was named an NCAA Division II All-American in 1988. Naone led the Vikings in receptions for three-straight seasons and wrapped up his career as the all-time leader in receptions with 199.

While that record has since fallen, Naone still ranks second all-time in receptions and fifth all-time in receiving yards (2,237) in PSU history. Naone had an additional 34 receptions in seven playoff games. He has more yards and catches than any tight end in Vikings’ history. In his final two seasons, Naone’s Vikings were the national runners-up both years, compiling a 22-5-2 record.
