Portland State University Athletics

The 1988 Viking Volleyball team captured the third trophy in five seasons as NCAA II National Champions. The Vikings had a 36-5 record overall and pulled off four three-game sweeps in the NCAA Playoffs. Portland State was undefeated at home and had a 23-match winning streak during the season. Jen Norlin and Shelly Rumberger were named first team All-Americans, while Kari Kockler was a second team All-America. Those three, along with Cathy Kuntz were selected to the All-Northwest Region team. It was the third title for Coaches Jeff and Marty Mozzochi. All six are also Viking Hall of Fame inductees as individuals.
