PORTLAND STATE VIKINGS

CHARLIE STOUDAMIRE - BASKETBALL/FOOTBALL, 1969-1972

Charlie Stoudamire

Inducted: 2002

Charlie Stoudamire broke ground as one of college athletics early ‘cross trainers’. A two-sport star for Portland State, Stoudamire was versatile enough to become one of the Vikings’ all-time leading scorers in basketball and talented enough in football to be drafted into the National Football League.

As a basketball player, Stoudamire ranks among the top 10 all-time in both scoring (1,179 points) and rebounding (646) despite playing just three seasons. He averaged 15.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in his career. As a football player, he led the team in rushing, kickoff returns and all-purpose yards all three years. Although he would never play in the NFL, Stoudamire was drafted in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions in 1972.
