Portland State Basketball Coach Barret Peery has signed four junior college players to national letters of intent to complete his roster for the 2018-19 season.
Michael Nuga (6-2, G, Eastern Florida JC), Sal Nuhu (6-8, F, Hutchinson (KS) CC), Rashaad Goolsby (6-7, F, Phoenix College) and Robert McCoy (6-7, F, San Diego CC) have all signed with the Vikings and will be among those competing in the inaugural season of the new Viking Pavilion in 2018-19.
The signings continue Peery's trend of seeking long, athletic student-athletes that complement the Vikings' up-tempo pace and high-pressure defensive style.
"Our staff did a tremendous of filling some immediate needs and spots on our roster where we needed to get stronger," Peery said. "This class gives us a good balance of high school as well as transfer students that give us immediate help and a great foundation for the future.
"The thing I really like about this spring class is they all come from programs that have done a lot of winning. They are guys that expect to win basketball games."
In fact, the four spring signees' teams combined for a 238-43 record over the past two seasons. Nuhu played for a National Championship team in 2016-17, while Nuga faced him for the title at Eastern Florida.
In all, Portland State will be adding eight players to the 2018-19 roster. Among them are three guards and five forwards. Three are high school signees and five are transfers. PSU loses five players from last year's 20-14 team that reached the CollegeInsider.com post-season tournament. The Vikings have eight returning letterwinners and two returning starters.
