Winkle Narrowly Misses School Record in Pole Vault at Ed Jacoby Invitational

RESULTS - PDF | HTML

NAMPA, Idaho —
Junior Keegan Winkle is so close to the school record in the indoor pole vault he can taste it.

Winkle cleared 15-05.00 (4.70m) in the pole vault at the Ed Jacoby Invitational Friday, just 1.75 inches below the school record of 15-06.75 (4.74m) Ben Cogdill set in 2007.

Friday marks the second time Winkle has cleared 15 feet in the indoor pole vault, after he cleared 15-00.00 (4.57m) while scoring for the Vikings at the Big Sky Indoor Championships last season. Winkle surpassed that mark by five inches Friday, and cleared the height on his first attempt. Winkle took three attempts with the bar at what would have been a school-record 4.85 meters, but couldn't record a clean jump to set the record.

Additionally, Winkle set an overall personal best with his mark Friday, beating the outdoor personal best he came to PSU with of 15-03.75 (4.67m).
