Robinson vaulted from fourth to second in the decathlon with a 30-second personal best in the closing 1,500 meters Thursday, earning him All-Big Sky honors in the event on the second day of the Big Sky Outdoor Championships at Hornet Stadium.

Robinson finished the 1,500 meters in 4:31.22, half a minute faster than his first decathlon 1,500 meters of the season, which he finished in 5:01.15.

The blazing finish in the 1,500 meters wrapped a huge move up the standings for Robinson Thursday, after he started the day in sixth place overall.

Robinson remained in sixth after the first event of the day – the 110-meter hurdles – though he moved within 66 points of second place with his finish in 15.70 seconds.

Robinson made his first move up the standings after the next event – the discus – as he nearly doubled his personal best in the event with a throw of 119-10 (36.54m). Robinson stayed at fifth after the pole vault, even as he narrowly missed another PR in the event with his clearance of 12-10.75 (3.93m).

Robinson matched his decathlon personal best in the ninth event of the competition – the javelin – with a best throw of 173-08 (52.93m). That moved him up to fourth in the standings going into the final event of the day, the 1,500 meters.

Robinson's fast finish in the 1,500 meters put him well clear of the third-place finisher, Weber State's Reece Lafaye, who finished more than 100 points behind Robinson at 6,741. Robinson's total of 6,852 points moved him up to sixth all-time at Portland State.

Sacramento State's Max Jette won the decathlon with 6,960 points, 108 points ahead of Robinson.

The Big Sky Outdoor Championships open in earnest Friday, with the first events starting at 1 p.m. (PT).
