Viking Throws Take Spotlight at Cougar Open

RECAP

CANBY, Ore. — The Portland State track & field team's women's throwers shared the spotlight at the Cougar Open Saturday, as the trio of Ashley Liber, Mikenna Marchment and Kendra Negron competed in the discus, hammer and javelin.

All three competed in the discus, with Marchment leading the way with a mark of 106-08 (32.52m). Liber posted a new personal best in the discus, as she finished with a best throw of 95-10 (29.20m).

Negron, meanwhile, posted a near-10-foot seasonal best in the hammer, as she finished with a throw of 96-03 (29.34m). Negron nearly set a personal best with the mark, too, but missed out on matching her PR of 96-10 (29.53) by seven inches.

The Vikings will next compete at the OSU High Performance Meet, April 28-29, in Corvallis, Ore.
