PORTLAND, Ore. — Siena Peri, a USTA junior tennis player from Los Angeles, Calif., has signed to play for the Portland State women's tennis team, and will compete for the Vikings during the upcoming 2014-15 season.
Â
Tennisrecruiting.net ranked Peri ranked as a four-star recruit coming out of her junior career, and had Peri ranked as high as the 144th best prospect in the nation. Peri also ranked as high as 27th in the southwest on tennisrecruting.net, and as high as 23rd in the state of California.
Â
"Siena brings in a really big, all-court game. There's nothing that she doesn't already do well coming in," PSU head coach
Jay Sterling said. "If we can continue to improve that game, she can really have a bright future here at Portland State, and immediately impact our team as a freshman."

Â
Peri has competed at USTA junior tournaments for the past 10 years, and has collected a series of tournament wins already in her career. More recently, Peri won the 2014 Oxnard Tennis Center Winter Junior Open Tournament, as well as the Girls 18 singles draw of the 2013 South End Junior Open Tournament, and the Girls 18 singles draw of the 2013 Lakewood Spring Junior Open Tournament.
Â
Additionally, Peri won the Girls 16 singles draw of the 2011 Ramada Junior Open Tournament, and the 2011 Girls 14 USTA Regional Doubles Tournament in Las Vegas, along with partner Jessica Failla.
Â
Peri also reached the quarterfinals of the Girls 14 singles draw of the 2010 Copper Bowl, and has represented Southern California in the Zonals Team Championships.
Â
"I really look forward to being part of the Portland State women's tennis team," Peri said after signing to play for the Vikings. "The girls are very determined and hardworking and I feel that I will get along with them very well. I was really attracted to the camaraderie of the team and I feel I can fit in well and help bring the team to the next level."
Â
Peri comes from a tennis family, as her sister, Manon Peri, plays tennis for Northwestern University in Chicago, while her mother, Cristina, played tennis at UC Berkeley, and her father, Jerome, is the head tennis professional at the Los Angeles Tennis Club. Her grandfather also played soccer professionally in France, and was a member of the France Men's National Team in his career.
Â
Peri started playing tennis herself at four years old, and started competing in tournaments at seven.
Â
Peri graduated from Laurel Springs School in Ojai, Calif., last spring, and will begin classes at Portland State as a freshman in the fall of 2014.
