FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Junior
Jazmin Ratcliff automatically advanced to the quarterfinals of the 100-meter hurdles with a third-place finish in her heat Friday, the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary rounds at John McDonnell Field.

Ratcliff placed third in the fourth heat Friday, running 13.77 seconds to give her the automatic berth into the quarterfinals. Ratcliff will run in the quarterfinals tomorrow, Saturday, May 31, with the first heat starting at 7:20 p.m. (CT). The top three finishers in each heat Saturday, as well as the runners with the three next-best times overall, will advance to the semifinals at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., in June.

Freshman
CeCelia Jackson nearly joined Ratcliff in the quarterfinals, as she finished in 13.87 seconds Friday, just three-hundredths of a second behind the final at-large qualifier, UC Riverside's Danielle Littleton at 13.84.

Junior
Jasmine Woods also competed in the first round of the 200 meters Friday, and finished 43rd overall with a time of 24.73 seconds.

Besides Ratliff, the Vikings will also compete in the quarterfinals of the women's 4x100-meter relay Saturday, beginning at 6:15 p.m. (CT). The top three teams in each heat, as well as the team's with the three next-best times overall, will advance to the semifinals of the national meet in Eugene.
