Cochrane beat another player from the University of Washington in the semifinals of the backdraw, cruising past the Huskies' Wendell Watanabe in straight sets for a 6-2, 6-3 win.
Â
Cochrane then faced Seattle University's Ian Clare in the finals, and overcame a loss in a first-set tiebreaker to level the match with a dominant, 6-2 win in the second set. Cochrane then topped Clare 10-5 in a super tiebreaker, giving him the backdraw title with a 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (5) win.
