Senior Brent Wheeler and junior Ian Risenhoover recorded the first win of the day for the Vikings, beating Gonzaga's Nick Kamisar and Alvaro Nazal 8-6 in a close match in the first round of the first doubles flight. Kamisar and Nazal had won the doubles draw at the Gonzaga Fall Tournament two weekends ago, where Wheeler and Risenhoover just missed facing Kamisar and Nazal, falling in the quarterfinals, a round before they would have faced Kamisar and Nazal in the semifinals.
 

Juniors Wil Cochrane and Matt Pronesti, meanwhile, won the other doubles match for the Vikings Friday, as they beat Eastern Washington's Stefan Farrar and Luke Ness 8-6 in the quarterfinals of the second doubles flight.

Cochrane and Pronesti will now face the University of Washington's Dragos Puscalau and Rishabh Rama in the semifinals Saturday at 8:45 a.m. (PT).
 

Wheeler and Risenhoover were also shooting to advance to the semifinals in their doubles draw later in the day Friday, but they fell 8-5 in the quarterfinals to the University of Washington's Viktor Farkas and Wendell Watanabe.
 

The rest of the Vikings did not have as much luck Friday, as they fought through a field that featured three teams that finished ranked in the final ITA National Rankings last season in Oregon, Boise State and Washington.
 

Senior Stuart Tierney and sophomore Ethan Lopez fell 8-4 to Boise State's Toby Mitchell and Brian Foley in the first round of the first doubles flight.
 

Redshirt junior Nate Chart and sophomore Nacor Ibanez also fell 8-0 to Gonzaga's Sergio Chip and Vicente Varas in the first round of the second doubles flight.

Pronesti, meanwhile, led the Vikings in their singles play Friday, as he pulled out a three-set win over the University of Portland's Kent Andreasen in the first round of the fifth singles flight, rallying after dropping a tough second set to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
 

Pronesti will now face Gonzaga's Vladimir Mijatovic in the semifinals of the fifth singles flight Saturday at 2:15 p.m. (PT).
 

Risenhoover was hoping to join Pronesti in the semifinals of the fifth singles flight, but fell 6-2, 6-2 to Washington's Puscalau in his first-round match.
 

Besides them, Ibanez fell in straight sets in his match against Seattle University's Matt Alderson in the sixth singles flight, losing 6-0, 6-2. Wheeler and Lopez lost their first-round singles matches as well, with Wheeler losing to Foley of Boise State in the third singles flight, while Lopez lost to the University of Washington's Emmett Egger 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of the first singles flight.

Tierney and Cochrane also lost in the first rounds of the second and fourth singles flights, respectively. Tierney fell 6-2, 6-2 to Kamisar of Gonzaga, while Cochrane lost 6-2, 6-0 to the University of Portland's Pierre Garcia.
 

The PNW Intercollegiates will continue Saturday, Nov. 8, before concluding Sunday, Nov. 9.
