OGDEN, Utah - Portland State Athletics had 30 student-athletes on 2012 fall sports teams earn Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors today. The Viking program had nine women's soccer players; five cross country runners, six volleyball players, and ten football players named to the Academic All-Conference teams.
Included among the honorees was first team All-Big Sky second-team defensive lineman
Marquis Jackson as well as All-Big Sky first team honoree
Garyn Schlatter. Also representing the volleyball team were All-Big Sky honorable mentions
Megan Ellis and Kasimira “Kasi” Clark (Big Sky Libero of the Year) among others. Women's soccer placed All-Big Sky second team goalkeeper Lainey Hulisizer and Daniela Solis on the list with honorable mentions Kayla and
Kelsey Henningsen. Meanwhile Among the five cross country recipients,
Sarah Dean and
Max Zemtsov earned the honor.
In order for student-athletes to earn academic honors they must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: Participation in at least half of the team's competitions; achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; and completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.
