Portland State Men’s Tennis Doubles Teams Shine through in Opening Tournament of 2012

CHENEY, Wash. – PSU completed the final day of the EWU Classic held in Cheney, Wash., Sunday afternoon, with senior Zach Lubek and freshman Dillion Triance as the only PSU players scheduled to compete.  Both competitors fell in the semifinal rounds of the White consolation bracket.

While singles were the only matches played for the Viks on Sunday it was the doubles action that might have been the strongest for PSU. Doubles squads combined for five victories during the three day tournament. The doubles team of sophomore Alec Marx and junior Abhinav Mishra paced the Viks with two victories while freshman Lukas Kortus and sophomore Brent Wheeler, sophomore Dillon Triance and freshman Will Cochrane and senior Sean Sullivan and sophomore Nate Chart all tallied a win apiece .

In singles play it was Sullivan that had the most wins for the Viks as he recorded two over the weekend. Also registering victories were Abhinav, Lubek and Triance.

PSU will next be in action in the Boise Classic hosted by Boise State on Oct. 5-7.
