Drew Hubel To Be Given Outstanding Senior Award From CCJ Program

The Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty at Portland State University is recognizing Viking quarterback Drew Hubel with one of two Outstanding Senior Awards based on academic performance.

Hubel, a Criminology and Criminal Justice major, will be presented with the award on Friday at the Hatfield School of Government's annual awards ceremony. It comes with a small monetary scholarship provided by the Oregon Sheriff's Association.

Hubel, who is a three-year letterwinner for the Vikings, will play his senior football season this fall. He is also a three-time Academic All-Conference Award winner and three-time Mike Schrunk Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award winner.

Hubel missed the 2010 season following surgery on his right, throwing shoulder. He has made 20 career starts and ranks fifth all-time in passing yards at Portland State (6,358). Hubel will compete with returning starter, senior Connor Kavanaugh, for playing time in 2011.
