The Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty at Portland State University is recognizing Viking quarterback
Drew Hubel with one of two Outstanding Senior Awards based on academic performance.
Hubel, a Criminology and Criminal Justice major, will be presented with the award on Friday at the Hatfield School of Government's annual awards ceremony. It comes with a small monetary scholarship provided by the Oregon Sheriff's Association.
Hubel, who is a three-year letterwinner for the Vikings, will play his senior football season this fall. He is also a three-time Academic All-Conference Award winner and three-time Mike Schrunk Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award winner.
Hubel missed the 2010 season following surgery on his right, throwing shoulder. He has made 20 career starts and ranks fifth all-time in passing yards at Portland State (6,358). Hubel will compete with returning starter, senior
Connor Kavanaugh, for playing time in 2011.
