When we decided it was time to modernize our brand, we wanted something bold, something that would do justice to our evolving program and PSU’s national reputation for innovation. To our delight, Nike designers were ready to collaborate and attacked the project with the kind of enthusiasm and verve that made them famous. The result is revolutionary.

The new Portland State logo is unlike any in collegiate athletics. Modeled on a Viking shield, it symbolizes tradition and strength, with elements that call out PSU’s urban heritage and indomitable spirit. Clean, distinctive lines create an elegant but striking design that reflects our values and moves us into a new era of PSU athletics. The new Viking logo exudes power and intimidation -- just like our teams.

Our old Viking logo lasted nearly 20 years. But change is good. Especially when it’s this good.

We are grateful to Nike for their hard work and ongoing partnership with PSU. We are excited to enter this new era of Portland State Athletics.
