The Portland State softball team was finally able to open up its fall schedule on Sunday after being rained out the day before, and the Vikings responded with a pair of victories. PSU downed Blue Mountain College, 5-0, in the morning and then defeated Western Oregon, 8-1, later in the day, as four Vikings pitchers starred on the day.

It came as no surprise on Monday when sophomore quarterback Drew Hubel was named The Sport Network's National Offensive Player of the Week and the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Hubel had one of the best day's a collegiate quarterback has ever had, completing 44 of 73 passes for 623 yards and five touchdowns in a 47-36 win over 11th-ranked Eastern Washington.

Senior strong safety Aaron Dickson has played in every game since joining the Viking team where his father, Arthur Dickson, was a defensive standout (he still holds the career record for interceptions) from 1973-1976 under then head coach and now offensive coordinator Mouse Davis.
